Impaired Ability to Handle Stress

The adrenal is a tiny organ that has a great impact on the whole body. When one is stressed, the adrenal releases cortisol to balance the body and the hormone level rises if there is more stress until there is a depletion hence the adrenal becomes fatigued.

Adrenal dysfunction leads to inability of the body to handle stress and it’s often referred to as the disease of the 21st century. If the thyroid looks good and one still feels exhausted, they should go for adrenals test.

There are four things that may cause anxiety which include:

  • Sleep disorders
  • Metabolic regulation
  • Emotional stress
  • Chronic inflammation.

It’s recommended that people should rest and give their health time to heal. It is also advisable to check on blood sugar levels since an imbalance in the blood sugar level can impair the functioning of thyroid and adrenal glands.

Anxiety can be alleviated by balancing the blood sugar level which involves avoiding carbohydrates and taking meals rich in proteins and healthy fats such as avocado and coconut oil. Carbohydrates burn off faster and increase the blood sugar levels. They are assimilated in the body in less than an hour yet proteins take approximately 2-3 hours and fats takes longer.

The following health tips can assist in regulating blood sugar:

  1. Avoid sweets before bedtime.
  2. Avoid fruit juice.
  3. Reduce caffeine intake. It causes depression and anxiety problems.
  4. Avoid corn, soy, yeast dairy and all grains.
  5. Take small frequent meals.
  6. Never go without breakfast.
  7. Avoid fasting.
  8. Take breakfast within one hour after waking up.
  9. Do not take foods with a glycemic index of above 55.
  10. Take lots of fat and protein such as eggs, meat and fish.

Besides, there is a variety of snack options such as protein shakes, boiled eggs, seeds, nuts and homemade jerky.
