Adrenal Dysfunction has become a condition that requires much attention. It’s the 21st century where stress levels are high and hectic lifestyles have become the norm. Adrenals are tiny organs that play a major role in handling stress. To achieve balance when stressed, hormone is released by the body’s cortisol levels. When the stress levels increase, so do the levels of hormone released and this will eventually lead to adrenal fatigue, where there is no more hormone released.
If a person’s thyroid levels are found to be normal but they still experience exhaustion and not feeling optimal, they should probably undergo a test for adrenals. They can develop anxiety as a result of both mental and emotional stress, metabolic regulation, chronic inflammation and sleep disorders.
Giving one’s body enough rest and participating in activities that help one unwind can go a long way in keeping stress at bay. Avoiding things that can bring harm to one’s health such as drugs is a good way of avoiding stress in the future. It is also advisable to keep track of sugar levels. An imbalance in blood sugar can negatively affect thyroid antibodies and cause adrenals to weaken.
Balancing blood sugar is a good way of keeping anxiety away. Adopting a diet that is rich in protein and healthy fats and low carbohydrates can help balance one’s blood sugar. Carbohydrates are known to raise blood sugar levels and they fade away quickly, while proteins and fats last longer in the body. One should however make sure to take not just fats but good ones for that matter. Examples of good fats include coconut oil, chia seeds and avocado. They not only stabilize blood sugar, but they also nourish the thyroid.
It is also recommended that one should minimize caffeine intake since it has been found to affect the brain chemistry leading to depression and anxiety problems.
