How to gain strength?
It is important to consider that the major cause behind any autoimmune disease is our weakness, our capability of taking high stress as this makes body weak against all the attacks. The major step to overcome this is to fulfill the demand of good sleep as lack of sleep will make you prone to more attacks.
So, to the people who are working on gaining a path to recovery are advised to sleep in a room without any distraction, no lights peeping in and no signs of any voice like alarm clock. Complete darkness is highly advisable as light activates cortisol, the hormone which energizes a person and make them get up in the morning.
This become evident in the people who appear as quite a morning person and are quite energetic, they have high cortisol on the other hand those who are tired and are moody in the morning are low on cortisol and don’t feel better till they are done with half of their day.
Therefore, it was found that those who had thyroid disorders had low cortisol in their body as this factor can’t overcome the inflammation and don’t let the anti-inflammation grow in the body hence, those who have Hashimoto’s are so low on energy.
Another factor which is important to consider is that the production of cortisol starts in the body past midnight as it is needed for giving energy in the morning and if someone is sleeping in a room where there is light present it will start disrupting with the production of cortisol and hence, a sluggish morning.
Moreover, it was found that those who had trouble in sleeping at night because of light disruption had another big issue their melatonin level is disturbed and they have suppressed melatonin level and this is the hormone which not only acts as modulator but also promotes sleeping. People who work night shifts are also found to have shift disorder as their melatonin level is highly disturbed. This not only cause them autoimmune disorder but also push them towards cancer therefore sleeping early at night is definitely good for health.
So, those who are having any trouble at sleep should look for the factors which might be trigging any activity in their brain depriving them from sleeping. They should reduce these activities or can even take melatonin supplements.
As discussed above that cortisol is your natural alarm clock and energy booster, some people however, have high amount of cortisol at evening which keeps them awake. So, now you have to work accordingly and make your body sleep. Avoid things like watching movies late, bright phone lights, computers at night. Sleep in a dark room, light candle to give yourself a soothing effect but more importantly allow your body to sleep and concentrate on rest!
