The Difference in Altitudes:
There is a very interesting factor and is called Mountain Paradox, according to which, those people who live in mountainous areas like Boulder, Colorado, or the mountains of Utah are generally have a positive and happy attitude. On the other hand, there are those who feel negative vibes and get depressed in these areas. Mountainous areas have quite suicidal effect on these people.
Researches were done and by considering all the factors it was found that some people have a hormone named serotonin low in their body by birth and when they shift to the higher altitudes the body starts producing more dopamine and serotonin level decreases more, hence, these people will start getting more depress.
In the contrast those who would have less dopamine moving to higher altitude their body will produce more dopamine and in result they will feel better.
As the higher altitudes effects the body and in return it produced more dopamine and the level of serotonin decreases so the people who will be lacking dopamine in their body will not be effected and would feel normal or they will feel happier if will move to Boulder as dopamine which will be created in their body gives out a pleasurable feeling.
Moreover, there is a link found between both dopamine and thyroid hormones, the two are made of the same amino acids L-Tyrosine and hence, those who will have any sort of thyroid disorder will eventually feel better in high altitudes.
The Seasonal Effective Disorder
There is a conflict between the researches as there might be or might not be something as Seasonal Effective Disorder. There are some who defies the statement while some who agrees and there is quite a link with thyroid and the reason behind it is that the disease is linked with the less provision sunshine. Less sunshine can result in the lack of happiness, thoughts, and chemical in the body.
Furthermore, those who are suffering from thyroid may have more chances towards seasonal effective disorder and there is high chance of the contrast situation where people with seasonal effective disorder will also have higher chances of seasonal effective disorder. This is also called ‘winter blues’ and can be tackled if we have a right proportion of sunlight taken by going on beach! But if that’s what we can’t do here’s few of the factors we can focus on.
